superbowl

We had a little get-together for the Superbowl. We weren’t planning anything special other than maybe making some food while we watched the game. But, last week, Brian’s dad called to see what our plans were, so we invited him over to watch the game with us. We had him over last year, too. So if it happens again next year, I guess that will make this our new tradition.

Brian was supposed to have practice yesterday, so I suggested he invite his bandmate (Shawn) over, too. Practice ended up getting cancelled because Brian had the “beer flu” (see previous post for the cause). Otherwise known as “I’m too busy to practice because I’m trying to get ready for tonight by sitting on the chair by the fireplace and taking a nap”. Ahem. Shawn still made it over, though.

Anyway, the game kind of sucked, but the conversation was good. The food was good, too. I made two kinds of sandwiches–Italian and roast beef–and a batch of chili. For dessert, some no bake cookies. Brian’s dad brought the appetizers, a cheese and meat platter with crackers and some chips–potato and tortilla. Wine and beer were on tap (pun: intended or not?) for the drinks. As usual, I made too much food, but we weren’t sure of the final headcount until the last minute, so that is my defense, this time. But, the leftovers made for a super lunch today. And, depending on how much is left, they might also make for a super supper tonight.

I’m not positive, but I think just about everyone in attendance was rooting for Indianapolis just so that Peyton Manning could win his Superbowl and we wouldn’t have to hear about that anymore.
