For a few reasons, I decided to start volunteering at the Humane Society of Cambria County. I sent them my volunteer application in July and heard back from them at the end of last month. Since then I’ve gone to volunteer training and a dog handling class. I actually got to volunteer for the first time on Wednesday and it went well enough–I did laundry while I was there and played with a bunch of cats and kittens. Next time, I’m going to see if I can work with some dogs, as that is one of my major motivations for volunteering. I’m committing myself to 2 hours a week. Overall, I think I’m going to like it.
