storm of the century

Johnstown was hit with a massive storm yesterday evening. Shortly after supper, I started getting alerts on my phone, and I heard warnings on the radio at an alarming rate. It was calling for 80 mph winds and death and destruction. As I was filming a snap of the storm to send to Jake, another warning played on the radio saying to get away from the windows and doors and seek shelter in the basement. It was looking pretty crazy outside, so the dogs and I went downstairs for a couple of minutes until the worst of the storm passed.

Later that night, I saw on Facebook that a state of emergency was declared in Westmont. There were trees down all over Johnstown, and a lot of people were without power. Luckily for me, my power only flickered a few times during the storm.

When I was out this afternoon, a bunch of roads were closed due to the downed trees. This afternoon, all you could hear outside were chainsaws, leaf blowers, and generators. At the time of this writing, a lot of people are still without power. In my 30 years of living here, this is the worst storm I can recall.
