This spring, I noticed a vibration in my seat and floor when driving my car over 35 mph. I had Jake check it out when he was in over the summer, and he didn’t think it was anything. But it was really annoying me, so I decided to get my tires rebalanced because that was one of the possible solutions (and not a very expensive one at that). But that did not fix the problem. I then took it to my regular mechanic, and they couldn’t find anything wrong with the car. They thought it could be a problem with the drivetrain and suggested that I take it to the Hyundai dealership, which was a thing I was trying to avoid doing.
Luckily, Jake’s one friend is the service manager there so I felt better about going there knowing that. They also could not find anything wrong with the car, but suggested that the tires may be to blame. I’m getting close to needing new ones, but I’m not quite there yet. They also said that the tire balance was done incorrectly (apparently way too much weight was added to one of the wheels for the size of tires I have), so I had them rebalance them. I guess it’s marginally better (or maybe I’m just hoping it is because I had to spend another $100 for that and the diagnostics). However, I can still feel a vibration.
I will surely need new tires in the next 6 months or so, which is crazy, because I only have 15,000 miles on these tires and they were supposed to be good for 65,000 miles. I will not be buying Goodyear tires again; that is for sure. Anyway, my plan is to go back to Hyundai if the problem persists after I get the new tires. I’m only 6 years into my 10-year powertrain warranty, so there’s plenty of time.
