This year’s trip was to WV. We stayed in a nice house along the Cacapon River. It was fairly remote, so Jake and I didn’t leave the cabin, except for a supplies run to Dollar General. Amelia just started a new job and was not able to attend this year. We definitely missed her!

Since we didn’t have anywhere to go, I took both dogs this time. Tilly doesn’t do well on her own, so I don’t like leaving her on someone else’s property if we’re going to be doing stuff during the day.

It wasn’t too far of a drive, so my parents came to visit us one day and stayed the night. It was nice to visit with them for an extended period. And they taught us how to play Rummy, which was fun!

Other than that, it was the usual for me: knitting, coloring, reading, games, puzzling, and hanging out. The house had a nice deck along the front with a river view. We were outside a lot until it got really hot later in the week. Friday was a bust, though, as the smoke from Canada descended and the air quality was terrible. We took the dogs on two short walks that day, but otherwise, stayed inside.

Since I had to cook all week, I treated us to some pizza from Ianni’s tonight. It was pretty good!
