independence day weekend

Happy Birthday, America! You had a good run.

I started off the weekend by going to Peoples Natural Gas Park to see The Billy Price Band. The guy I am seeing went with me. To be honest, we were pretty much talking the whole time and didn’t pay much attention to the music, but from what I heard, the band sounded great. The park is near the field where the Johnstown Mill Rats play, and they had fireworks after their game, which coincided with the end of the concert. What a nice surprise! That was the first time I’ve seen an official fireworks show in a while, and it was pretty great.

Tilly, on the other hand, was not a fan. I wasn’t thinking about the 4th when I made these plans. She doesn’t do well with fireworks or thunderstorms. My vet gave her a prescription for Xanax at her last appointment, and I was hoping that would do the trick for her, but she absolutely trashed my office while I was gone. Among other things, she ripped the blinds off the windows, shredded all of the garbage, and ruined all of the doorknobs in the hall while trying to escape. Escape to where? I don’t know. I suppose a location that wasn’t doing fireworks.

Last evening, my brother had a thing at his house. The rain put a damper on things, but I went over for a bit. I wasn’t going to make the same mistake two days in a row, so I came home before dark.

I had another date this afternoon with the same guy I’ve been seeing. Side note: I’m only dating one person, so let’s just assume it’s him from this point forward when I’m talking about dates. No, we are not exclusive yet, but I don’t multi-date. I don’t have the bandwidth to date multiple people at the same time. Anyway, it was still supposed to be hot today, so we went to the Logan Valley Mall (which is surprisingly dead; I’ve heard the same about the Galleria, so now I want to visit there to see how it compares) to walk around. There weren’t a lot of other options since it was Sunday. Afterward, we went to Applebee’s for dinner. And the dogs were disappointed, yet again, that their supper was delayed by a few hours.
