it wasn’t the birds!

Last year, I thought the birds ate all of my blueberries. I’m sure they ate some, but I recently caught a chipmunk red-handed, so now I know. And, it was eating the green berries (probably about half of them so far). This is very disappointing. Earlier this season, I put a crop cage around the blueberries, but they were still getting in. Yesterday, I secured the netting at the bottom of the cage. Hopefully that will keep them out, but I’m not convinced. I’m starting to feel like Bill Murray in Caddyshack.

I’ve always had a lot of chipmunks around, but I suspect there might be more since I started feeding the birds every day, so I guess it’s the price I have to pay if I want to continue feeding the birds.
