Stephen King had quite a year in 2025, with 4 adaptations:
- The Monkey
- The Life of Chuck
- The Long Walk
- The Running Man
- It: Welcome to Derry
Most were pretty well-received. I watched the first season of It: Welcome to Derry, and it was pretty good. I really like Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of the monster. I will post a full review of that series once it is done. But that won’t be for a while, because it appears that it has been renewed for another two seasons! I have yet to see the remaining two movies because they aren’t playing on any of the streaming channels I have access to, but I will definitely watch them soon (after I get caught up on some other stuff), even if I have to rent them on Fandango.
The Monkey was a bit odd, kind of like horror-comedy. If you’re into that sort of thing, you’ll probably like it. I’m not huge into horror, and I’m usually pretty picky about what I watch from that genre, but since this was a Stephen King story and starred Theo James, I watched it. Otherwise, it would not have been on my radar.
My rating: 3/5
