I heard a lot of good things about this movie, so I was excited to watch it, but then I saw how long the movie was and who the director was (Paul Thomas Anderson), and I was less excited. He previously directed Boogie Nights, which I liked; There Will Be Blood, which I didn’t like; and Magnolia, which I think I didn’t like. All were too long. Anyway, I had some extra time on my hands last night, so I watched it. It was good, but not great. I really liked Leonardo DiCaprio’s and Benicio Del Toro’s characters, but Sean Penn’s character was rather cartoonish. Anyway, it was not the movie experience I was hoping for.
