As I was watching this, I realized that I did not know the actual story (that is, I’d never read the book or seen the original movie). So, I don’t know how this compares. That said, it was a pretty sympathetic portrayal of the “monster”. I especially enjoyed the story when it was from his point of view. But it was so long (2.5 hours).
