Another year, another great festival. I really wanted to see Miss Freddye’s Blues Band again, but I was running late last night and only caught part of the set. She’s awesome! One of Jake’s favorite bands was playing later last night, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and he wanted me to see them, so I stuck around for the beginning of their set, which got delayed due to the weather. Not my kind of music, but they are very talented musicians. He was ecstatic that they played in Johnstown. And, as it turns out, they played at VOMA 11 years ago, but that was before he knew about them.
I caught Katie Henry’s set this afternoon. This is my second time for her, too. She’s also awesome! And I watched a little bit of Sicard Hollow (a bluegrass band) before returning home. I considered going back down this evening, but it was calling for rain, and sure enough, we had another storm this evening. It just stopped, but I’ve already mentally committed myself to staying home this evening. So much for that.
Oh, there was a free show on Thursday night from a group called Noodly, Nester, & Gator. It’s a side project from two of the artists who were playing the festival, one of whom was the drummer for Pigeons, so Jake wanted to check it out. I went with him and one of his friends. They were a talented group for sure, but not my usual style of music. That’s the nice thing about the festival–there’s a wide range of genres represented every year.
